The poster of the Radhika Apte starrer Ghoul gave us the heebie jeebies and the trailer lives up to the menacing possibilities.

Based on Arabic folklore, the three-part series is set at a covert detention centre at which military officials question and often torture suspected terrorists.

Nida (Radhika Apte), a newly minted interrogator who turned in her own father as an anti-government activist, arrives at the centre to discover that some of these terrorists are not of this world, and she must fight for not just the truth behind the military's hyper-nationalist goals, but for her survival in the face of demons, both human and not.

This August, Netflix will unleash its first Indian horror series. With the names of makers of Get Out and Insidious associated with the venture, expectations are amped up.

After the anthology film Lust Stories and India's first Netflix original series Sacred Games, this is Radhika Apte’s third appearance in a Netflix Indian original.

Written and directed by Patrick Graham, Ghoul is a co-production between Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane's Phantom Films, Jason Blum's Blumhouse Productions, and Ivanhoe Pictures.
