After Hints from Aniston, ‘Friends’ Reunion on the Cards: Reports

Could we *be* any more excited?

15 years after the show last aired, it seems that a Friends reunion is on the cards for Warner Media’s upcoming streaming platform HBO Max. According to The Hollywood Reporter, this will not be a reboot but an unscripted special that will feature the main cast members Jennifer Anniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry and David Schwimmer and series creators David Crane and Marta Kauffman.

The Hollywood Reporter has claimed the creators of the NBC comedy are in talks though nothing has been finalised yet and no deals have been struck. HBO Max and producers WBTV have declined comment.

Friends aired on 22 September, 1994 becoming a phenomenon during its 10-year run. It officially leaves streaming platform Netflix at the end of the year and will make HBO Max its new home. Over the years, the cast and creators maintained a 'no-reunion' stand. Friends executive producer Kevin S Bright revealed last October that the team was painfully close to having an official reunion, but it wasn't meant to be. NBC staged a mini reunion in 2016 to honour legendary director and producer James Burrows.

Friends star Jennifer Aniston recently joined Instagram where she posted a photo with her fellow cast members from the show. When asked about a potential reboot on a recent appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Aniston mentioned that the creators were “working on something”. The actor returned to television with Apple TV’s The Morning Show, which premiered on 1 November, along with her on-screen Friends sister Reese Witherspoon.
