Dhoni to Tell His Story in Hotstar’s Docu-Drama ‘Roar of the Lion’

Roar of the Lion is Hotstar Specials’ 1st big release & will feature shows from India’s acclaimed storytellers.

After a biopic on his life played by actor Sushant Singh Rajput, former Indian cricket team captain, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, will now take a more active role in storytelling, by featuring in streaming service - Hotstar’s new docu-drama Roar of the Lion.

In the teaser of the show, Dhoni is heard saying that while the world knows about his rags to riches story, and almost every detail of his life, there is one story that no one knows yet, one which is his to tell alone.

Roar of the Lion is first big release of Hotstar Specials’ first big release and is will reportedly feature shows from India’s most acclaimed storytellers.

The official synopsis of Dhoni’s show reads: “Dhoni. Mahi. Captain Cool. Thala. Multiple names, many stories. But there's one story that the world has never heard.”

According to The Indian Express, every show which will be released on the platform will be made available in seven different languages, including Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada and Malayalam.

Speaking about his first production, Dhoni said:

“I am excited to see my first production collaboration come to life. The story and the narrative are unique, and we believe it has found a perfect home in the bold and non-conforming Hotstar Specials.”
