Last September, history was created in India when the Supreme Court struck down Section 377 and accorded dignity to the LGBTQ community that has long been discriminated against. The message this ruling brought with it was clear – Love needs no law.

While this was definitely a landmark judgment, the road to getting here has been a long and arduous one. It was the result of years and years of efforts put in by numerous people across the country and from different walks of life. That’s exactly what ZEE5’s new original ‘377 अब Normal’ is all about. It tells you the stories of all the different individuals who together fought for freedom, love and dignity and showed the world that love needs no law. It chronicles their tears, fights, the abuse they suffered and finally, their moment of triumph when Section 377 was read down.

Directed by Faruk Kabir, ‘377 अब Normal’ is inspired by the lives of all those heroes who petitioned against Section 377. For some, it was a personal battle, while some were fighting for their loved ones. However, the one thing common to all these people was that they had made it their life’s singular mission to fight for LGBTQ rights. This film will bring you up, close and personal with their struggle that eventually led to the decriminalisation of homosexuality.
