Bollywood usually prefers to remain silent over many burning issues. But the barbarism of the alleged abduction, brutal gangrape and killing of an 8-year-old Bakheral girl in Kathua - a political ploy aimed at ousting the nomadic community from the area in Jamm and Kashmir - has roused B-towners and other celebs.
While the usual articulate voices from the industry expressed their opinions on Twitter, some others also spoke up and pointed out the deplorable law and order situation in the country. Akshay Kumar, Farhan Akhtar, Anushka Sharma, Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt were among the actors who chose to air their views on the case on social media.

The announcement of Sridevi’s name for Best Actress for the National Awards for her performance in Mom was an emotional moment for Boney Kapoor. When The Quint got in touch with Kapoor for his reaction to the news, the veteran producer could not hold back his tears. Kapoor was completely overwhelmed on hearing the news of the honour being given to Sridevi, who passed away on 24 February this year.

The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (I&B) has announced the winners of the 65th National Awards. While Vinod Khanna has been honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award posthumously, the late Sridevi has been awarded the Best Actress Award for Mom.

A special screening of Shoojit Sircar’s latest film October was held at the Yash Raj Studios on Thursday night. October starring Varun Dhawan and newcomer Banita Sandhu releases on 13 April worldwide but a few celebs from the industry got to catch an early show of the film at the screening. Varun’s good friend Arjun Kapoor was spotted at the show and so were a few other actors who were a part of Shoojit’s earlier films - Ayushmann Khurrana, Yami Gautam and Taapsee Pannu.
