Recently, Haryana and Delhi are recovering from a nasty sting called ‘reservation’ that bit ’em on their ‘pichwara’. It must be said that ‘reservation’ is not just a word but a celebrity in India. All ‘Jat-Paat’ are a fan of ‘reservation’. And why not, it’s their quota to success (supposedly).
This article is meant to cast away all the ‘reservation’ around this word. Sometimes reservation is not that bad, especially if you’re a Bollywood star. How you ask? Let The Quint clear this confusion for you.
We take a look at celebs who could do with a little bit of reservation or celebs who are already enjoying the perks of reservation.
Life is beautiful when you’re born with a silver spoon in your mouth. But when you’re born in the sacred temple of ‘Balaji Telefilms’ all movies are ‘reserved’ for Tushar Kapoor. That’s the story of the brother of TV serial goddess Ekta Kapoor. The producer has been protecting and promoting her little brother since he lurched onto the Bollywood bandwagon and all rights to act in any K-films have been reserved solely for him.
That’s also the case with another Kapoor ladla – Ranbir. Ranbir Kapoor has been reserved for his best buddy, Ayan Mukerji’s films. The blockbuster duo not only get the box-office cash register ringing but also ensure Ranbir’s quota of success.
While working with the Sultan – Salman Khan, Anushka Sharma took Sallu Bhai’s mantra way too seriously and started living it. The manta? Lucky, No Time for Love. The actress has gone ahead and ‘reserved’ all her time for her films with no quota left for love.
After 13 long years, Salman Khan was finally acquitted of all charges in the 2002 hit-and-run case by the Bombay High Court. It’s been a difficult journey for Sallu bhai – a road he does not wish to drive down again. Hence, bhai may request all roads in Bandra to be ‘reserved’ ONLY for him – to drive, walk, drink, cycle on, with no other human in sight.
Amitabh Bachchan has ‘reserved’ for himself a special quota. No. Not a ‘senior citizen’ quota but an award show quota. The Best Actor and the Best Actor Critic awards are almost invariably kept aside for the Shahenshah. There has been no year when Big B hasn’t been handed over the Big F (Filmfare) award.
Any Bollywood actress who dreams of crossing the saath samundar to star in a Hollywood film, must think again. We are no one to wash away your dreams – leave that to Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone. The beautiful ladies have already ‘reserved’ those rights by bagging multi-starrer Hollywood films. Why do you think Mandana Karimi, Sunny Leone are knocking on Bollywood’s door?
