Dilip Kumar Receives Padma Vibhushan

Veteran actor Dilip Kumar who turned 93 on December 11, was presented with the Padma Vibhushan on Sunday by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, at Kumar’s residence in Bandra, Mumbai, for his contribution to Hindi cinema.

The legendary actor was given the second-highest civilian award comprising a medal, certificate and shawl in presence of the actor’s 71-year-old wife Saira Banu. Kumar, in a black suit, could barely open his eyes and was helped by his wife during the ceremony. Speaking to the media, Banu said:

I am very proud with the honour that the government has given him. I was emotional. I am the proudest wife. Apart from the award people always love and respect him, that matters the most. This is the biggest award.

Maharashtra Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis, who was also present at the occasion to honour Dilip Kumar tweeted:
