Legendary rock band Queen is all set to perform live at the Oscars this weekend, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) announced on Monday 18 February. The performance will be representing Best Picture nominee Bohemian Rhapsody, which tells the story of late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury.
The Academy shared the news on their Twitter page, saying, “Is this the real life? Is this just fantasy? We welcome @QueenWillRock and @adamlambert to this year’s Oscars!”
American Idol winner Adam Lambert will be joining original band members Brian May and Roger Taylor for vocals.
Bohemian Rhapsody has received 5 Oscar nominations, including Rami Malek for Best Actor. Rami plays Freddie in the film, the British rocker of Indian origin who died of AIDS at the age of 45. The film has been a global superhit and Rami is considered the frontrunner for the Oscar in his category.
