Oscar Pistorius’ life is the stuff they would make movies on. Actually, one has already been made, and going by the reactions, neither fans nor critics are particularly thrilled. Oscar Pistorius: Blade Runner Killer, a just-released TV movie, revolves around the sprint runner and Paralympic champion’s journey from struggling with his disability to representing South Africa at the Olympic games in 2012 to the murder of his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp in 2013.
Starring Andreas Damm as Oscar Pistorius and Toni Garrn as Reeva Steenkamp, the controversial film is being slammed for its shoddy presentation of the much publicised murder - for which Pistorius, who turns 31 today, has been convicted and is serving sentence - but also bad acting and accents. What’s more, both Pistorius and Steenkamp’s families have threatened to sue its makers.
