Believe it or not, Hollywood films are a big part of the film culture in India today. As Avengers: Endgame just proved with its record-smashing box office figures. This year alone (and it has only been four months) we’ve already experienced the lightheartedness of Shazam, Jordan Peele’s Us that marries horror with politics like no other film, Dumbo’s innocence in a world so cruel.. The list is endless, and with good reason.
From classic films that are getting their own live action remakes to the endless stream of American superheroes that have a strange way of settling in our hearts, here’s a list of Hollywood movies to watch out for in 2019. Don’t forget to mark your calendars.
A live action musical version of the popular 1992 animated film Aladdin, this one will be directed by Guy Ritchie. The film features Will Smith as Genie and Mena Massoud as Aladdin. You can expect to hear fresh arrangements of the original score, as well two new songs added to the mix.

An exciting spin-off of the original Men in Black series, this one stars Chris Hemsworth and Tess Thompson as they embark on a new Men in Black mission.

The fourth instalment of the Toy Story series, the film takes off exactly from where it left off in Toy Story 3. A new toy ‘Forky’ has now joined the gang and everyone’s world is about to turn upside down.

Known for classic American films like Pulp Fiction and Django Unchained, Quentin Tarantino’s upcoming comedy-drama film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood will transport you back to the Golden Age of Hollywood. It follows the story TV actor and his stunt double, played by Leonardo Dicaprio and Brad Pitt.

A live action remake of the eternal classic, The Lion King features the voices of Donald Glover as Simba, Beyonce as Nala and James Earl Jones who reprises his role as Mufasa, along with Seth Rogen, John Oliver, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Eric Andre and Keegan-Michael Key. Count on this one to leave you teary-eyed.

POKEMON Detective Pikachu is the hopeful story of a talking Pikachu who aspires to be a excellent detective in a world where Pokemons are meant to battle.

A sequel to Disney’s Frozen, Frozen 2 is the journey of Elsa, Anna, Kristoff and Olaf as they decide to venture out into the wild in search of the truth. The characters have been voiced by Kristen Bell, Evan Rachel Wood, and Sterling K. Brown.

The final chapter of the Star Wars franchise, Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker takes off from The Last Jedi. It stars Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, and Domnholl Gleeson. A concluding film, this one’s sure to leave fans emotional.

Third installment of the action-thriller John Wick series, this one follows the story of the assassin John Wick who has a price tag of $14 million on his head as he’s on the run after killing a prominent member of the international assassin’s guild.

Joker takes us into the mind of the super-villain who has so often been shown in a negative light. Played by Joaquin Phoenix, it’s the story of a failing stand-up comedian and his subsequent downfall as he finds himself transforming into a psychopath.

The twelfth and final installment of Marvel’s X-Men series, X-Men: Dark Phoenix stars Sophie Turner, James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence. It is the story of X-Men as they’re forced to stand against their team member Jean Grey who, after being hit by a solar flare, turns into Dark Phoenix and endangers the life of people.

The third installment in the Amrican horror series based on the Anabelle doll, Anabelle Comes Home follows demonologists Ed and Lorraine Warren as they bring the doll home and lock her up. Little do they know that despite their best efforts, a night of horros awaits them.
