On Sunday, Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame achieved an international milestone by beating Avatar to become the world’s highest-grossing film of all time. A crown that was previously worn by James Cameron’s Avatar. Avengers: Endgame has done a global business of $2.7902 billion at the box office, in the process eclipsing the $2.7897 billion-haul of Cameron's sci-fi epic. The announcement was made by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige at the San Diego Comic-Con on Saturday. Feige also revealed future plans for Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Following the announcement, filmmaker James Cameron took to Twitter to congratulate Marvel Studios. Cameron's congratulatory tweet begins in the fictional Na'vi language from his world of Avatar, and then the filmmaker goes on to convey his feelings in English. The note comes with a graphic of Iron Man surrounded by Pandora woodsprites.

The Russo brothers, who helmed Avengers: Endgame, were quick to respond to Cameron’s heartfelt note. They took to Twitter to thank James Cameron for always inspiring them and being the reason they fell in love with cinema in the first place.

They wrote, “To @JimCameron- you're a monumental reason why we fell in love with film in the first place. Thank you for always inspiring us and opening the world’s eyes to what’s possible. We can’t wait to see where you take us next...”

Along with the message, the Russo brothers shared four different images of definitive scenes from Cameron's The Terminator, Aliens, Titanic and Avatar. The images show Russo Brothers watching the respective movies, and saying "Holy Sh*t!!!".

Avengers: Endgame starred Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Don Cheadle, Paul Rudd, Brie Larson, Karen Gillan, Danai Gurira, Bradley Cooper and Josh Brolin, among other special appearances.
