Beyonce and Adele turned out to be real women of substance on the Grammy stage and we can’t stop gushing.

Someone coin a word for the female version of bromance already. Adele and Beyonce might have been pitted against each other in the big three categories at the Grammys this year, but their love and respect for each other is inspiring for women across the world.

Though it’s hard not to be reminded of Kanye West’s stunt at MTV Music Awards, where he snatched the mic from Taylor Swift, while she was in the middle of her acceptance speech, and turned everyone’s attention to how much more deserving he thought Beyonce was. Well this time around, Adele didn’t need a Kanye to do that.

But the 59th Grammy Awards saw the emotional side of Adele and Beyonce, like never before. Not only were their performances powerful, their words and body language on stage spoke louder than those who only compare the two.

Even Adele Wanted Beyonce to Win the Best Album Grammy

Adele was already having a rather emotional day at the Grammys this year. After her smashing Hello performance that opened the big night, she was dragged back to the horrors of last year, when she sang All I Ask from her album 25, at the 2016 Grammys. She sounded mortal, which of course is rare for someone of her talent. But she didn’t repeat the same mistake this year. During her George Michael tribute performance, when she realised she had hit a bad note, she came to a halt, cursed, apologised and started all over again. She said she loved Michael too much to go on with something less than perfect. Remember, this was the Grammy stage and it really doesn’t get bigger than this. The courage that that must’ve taken, salut.

2017 was big for Adele thanks to five wins. This is also the second time in her career that she’s won the big three and has created Grammy history by dedicating her Best Album award to queen Bey so graciously.

Adele cried, Beyonce cried, we all cried.

Beyonce’s Performance Was a Dedication to Motherhood

Beyonce gave a stunning performance with her unborn twins on the Grammy stage this year, as her husband Jay Z and daughter Blue Ivy watched in the audience. But her acceptance speech after winning the Best Contemporary Urban Album award, was even more spectacular. She’s all about feeling beautiful. I guess that’s why she looks it every single time.

It’s important to me to show images to my children that reflect their beauty so they can grow up in a world where they look in the mirror — first through their own families, as well as the news, the Super Bowl, the Olympics, the White House and the Grammys — and see themselves.
Beyonce, Singer

Beyonce addressed issues that make us uncomfortable. It’s something she always does in her music too. While she was grateful for all the support she’s got from the world and her love ones, the mission she’s really on is to create the image of a powerful woman for her children and those across the world.

Thank you to the Grammy voters for this incredible honor. Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to beautifully capture the profundity of deep Southern culture. I thank God for my family, my wonderful husband, my beautiful daughter, my fans for bringing me so much happiness and support. We all experience pain and loss, and often we become inaudible. My intention for the film and album was to create a body of work that would give a voice to our pain, our struggles, our darkness and our history. To confront issues that make us uncomfortable. It’s important to me to show images to my children that reflect their beauty so they can grow up in a world where they look in the mirror — first through their own families, as well as the news, the Super Bowl, the Olympics, the White House and the Grammys — and see themselves. And have no doubt that they’re beautiful, intelligent and capable. This is something I want for every child of every race, and I feel it’s vital that we learn from the past and recognize our tendencies to repeat our mistakes.”
Beyonce

When Adele broke her Grammy trophy and offered half of it to her all-time favourite artist, Beyonce had tears in her eyes and mouthed ‘thank you’ repeatedly from the audience.

No wonder people didn’t care much about voicing their political opinions on this platform, unlike the Golden Globes. Fans and artists alike were taken by these strong women, who weren’t ashamed of their bodies, making mistakes, or for that matter, complimenting each other on a stage as prominent as the Grammys.

More power to you girls!
