After a world premiere on 22 April, Avengers: Endgame hit theatres in India on 26 April. The film brings to a close an 11-year-long saga of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which has been spread over 22 films. It has been directed by the Joe and Anthony Russo and produced by Kevin Feige.
Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame starring Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth and loads of other actors hit Indian theatres on 26th April. So The Quint headed to watch the first day show of the movie at PVR, Lower Parel. Fans spoke about their expectations from the film before the show started and also recorded their experiences after the film. No spoilers, promise!
Spoilers alert! Joe Russo has spilled the beans about his character in Avengers: Endgame. He essays the role of a gay man in the film, and it will be a cameo.
“Representation is really important,” Joe Russo told Deadline. “It was important to us as we did four of these films, we wanted a gay character somewhere. We felt it was important that one of us play him, to ensure the integrity and show it is so important to the filmmakers that one of us is playing the character. It is a perfect time, because one of the things that is compelling about the Marvel Universe moving forward is its focus on diversity”, the director said.
Avengers: Endgame is here, and celebrating the Avengers spirit is none other than Google itself.

According to reports, ticket prices for Avengers: Endgame are soaring unbelievably. In Delhi, prices have reached Rs. 2,400. In Mumbai, tickets are available at Rs. 1,765 at Inox Insignia.
According to this latest report in Variety, “That heroic haul includes a $107.5 million debut in China, an $8.4 million launch in South Korea, a $7 million bow in Australia and a $6 million day one in France. All in, it shatters industry records for a single-day gross in as many markets.”

With a 5-star rating, film trade analyst Taran Adarsh has tweeted that Avengers: Endgame exceeds expectations and that India needs to get ready for a “Tsunami at the box-office”.

While the movie enjoys a phenomenal reception, the Avenger buffs clearly have mixed emotions about it. As the joy of a new Avengers movie coming out fades away, they are faced with the reality of it also being the last one.

Here are a few tweets from fans and critics down south who are giving a very enthusiastic two thumbs up to the latest Avengers instalment.
As far as Indian theatres are concerned, midnight and post-midnight screenings of films is not a common phenomenon. However, that seems to be changing with Avengers: Endgame as the marvel film is screening 24x7 in many theatres. Shows on Saturday (second day of release) begin as early as 3 am in the morning.
On a bright Friday morning, Marvel fans made their way to the theatres to catch the first day first show of the much-awaited Avengers: Endgame. For most fans, getting tickets for the first weekend of the release, especially first day, was very difficult. Many even showed up dressed in their favourite superhero t-shirts.
Marvel will reportedly break the tradition of having a post-credits scene in Avengers: Endgame by including an audio clip instead. The audio has been described to be “clanking”, which fans have speculated could allude to Tony Stark, aka Iron Man, building his suit in a throwback to 2008’s Iron Man, the film that started it all.

Ahead of the film, ticketing platform BookMyShow witnessed record advance ticket sales with 2.5 million tickets sold by 25 April.
It was earlier reported that one million tickets were sold in just over a day since advance booking for Avengers: Endgame opened.
Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted that the advance booking for Avengers: Endgame was “much, much better than several Hindi biggies that opened in 2018 and 2019. Eyes a record-breaking, historic start in India”.
