Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees and Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil have been fighting the release date battle for months. They will now take each other by the horns at the box office on 25 January. But down south, veteran actors Balakrishna and Chiranjeevi have avoided a similar clash quite amicably. Telugu mega-films Gautamiputra Satkarni (GS) and Khaidi No. 150 were pitching veteran actors Nandamuri Balakrishna and Chiranjeevi against each other for a Sankranti release, but the clash has reportedly been avoided.

According to a Deccan Chronicle report, GS director Krish decided to give a day’s gap between the films, for the sake of both films. He was also considerate towards his colleague Ram Charan Tej, who is turning producer with Chiranjeevi’s 150th film Khaidi.

My friend Ramcharan Tej turns producer with Khaidi... and I didn’t discuss a release strategy, but I believe a day’s gap between the films would benefit both. It’s just a big coincidence. But Sankranti is a great season for movies as every year, three to four films release and take the advantage of the festival. Secondly, both the films are of a different genre and I’m sure most of the audience will see both these films, as we always watch all Sankranti releases.
Krish, Director of Gautamiputra Satkarni

While the Chiranjeevi starrer Khaidi No 150 hit cinemas on 11 January, Gautamiputra Satkarni will release in theatres on 13 January.

Unfortunately, Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan couldn’t work out a mutually beneficial deal like their contemporaries down south. Something for the Bollywood superstars to learn from maybe?
