In November 2018, Alia Bhatt took to social media to announce that she will be collaborating with her father, Mahesh Bhatt, for the first time in his upcoming directorial Sadak 2. The film will mark his return to directing films in Bollywood. Recently, Alia opened up about how she feels about working with her father.
“My father is very silent on most of the things. But I still don't know how he will be on the sets”, the Kalank actor added.
Mahesh Bhatt’s last directorial was in 1999 - Kartoos starring Sanjay Dutt and Manisha Koirala. Alia revealed that it was Sanjay Dutt itself who convinced Mahesh Bhatt to get back to directing films.
Sadak 2 is a homecoming of sorts for the Bhatt family, as it marks Mahesh Bhatt’s return to directing after a hiatus of nearly 20 years. It is a sequel to the original 1991 film. Sadak 2 will star Sanjay Dutt, Pooja Bhatt, Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur.
In September 2018, Pooja Bhatt had also shared a photo of Alia, Aditya, Mahesh and Sanjay Dutt. She had captioned it “homecoming”.
Alia Bhatt had initially made this announcement on her father’s 70th birthday. In the post wishing her father, she had written that her father directing her is “the greatest present I could dream for.”
Alia Bhatt was last seen in period film Kalank.
Sadak 2 is scheduled to be released on 25 March, 2020.
