Reports claim that the Mumbai police visited actor Sonakshi Sinha’s house on Thursday, 11 July to conduct an inquiry regarding a case of cheating lodged against her in September last year. “The Moradabad police had asked us for support on Thursday. We provided them with the required manpower and they visited Sonakshi Sinha’s house to record her statement. However, she wasn’t present there, so the cops are likely to pay a visit again on Friday”, an officer from Juhu police station told Mumbai Mirror.

The Uttar Pradesh police had registered a case against Sonakshi Sinha and four others at Katghar Police Station under sections 420 (cheating) & 406 of IPC in 2018. It has been alleged that Sonakshi had charged Rs 24 lakh for a stage performance at an event in Delhi, but failed to show up.

Sonakshi has issued a statement on Twitter in response to the reports and says that she has been fully cooperating with authorities. “An event organiser who couldn’t live up to his commitment obviously thinks he can make a fast buck by maligning my crystal clear image in the press. There is full cooperation with the authorities from my end for the investigation to be conducted. Would request the media not to fan these bizarre claims of an unscrupulous man,” she wrote.

“Sonakshi is an honest worker and has never cheated anyone. The accusations against her are baseless. This is a way to malign her image and neither Sonakshi nor her team will yield to this. We have nothing to hide and we have been very cooperative with the authorities”, the actor’s spokesperson told Mumbai Mirror earlier.

Sonakshi Sinha will be seen opposite Salman Khan in Dabangg 3.
