As we are yet to hear Aditya Narayan’s side of the story about why he reacted so harshly when he was asked to pay excess fee on his excess luggage, his father singer Udit Narayan has spoken out in his defense.

Main itna hi kehna chahunga that since his childhood he has been a good child [boy] aur usne acha kaam kiya hai and pata nahi yeh waha pe kya aapas mein jhagda hua, discussion hua. Video mein toh woh gusse mein lag raha hai, I don’t know the exact incident because I was not there. I saw the viral video on television. Main kya kahoon iss baare mein kuch samajh nahi aa raha hai. I think you should talk to Aditya. (I would only like to say that since he was a child, he has been a good boy and he’s done good work... I’m not sure about the fight, discussion that has happened. He looks angry in the video, but I don’t know what happened exactly because I wasn’t there. I saw the viral video on television. I don’t know what to say in this matter really. I think you should talk to Aditya.)

Indigo airlines released a statement about the order of events that led to the altercation. According to a report in Hindustan Times, Aditya Narayan and his entourage was carrying excess baggage of 40 kgs and when the baggage fee totalled to Rs 13,000, the singer refused to pay anything more than Rs 10,000 and started hurling abuses at the female Indigo airline employee, and pointed a finger at the Duty Manager. As seen in the video, Aditya Narayan continued to rage on. According to the statement, after he was informed that he will not be allowed to travel, he apologised to the ground staff, and was given his boarding pass. When probed about the statement, Udit has this to say.

Airlines ki taraf se toh kuch bhi nahin aaya, agar waha se kuch aata toh pata chalta. Ab pata nahi kisne video banaya and har jagah daal diya. Meri Aditya se iss baare mein kuch baat nahi hui hai. (The airline hasn’t given any statement, if it had, one would know more. Now I don’t know who made that video and put it everywhere. I haven’t spoken to Aditya about it.)
