Kohler has recently announced a new range of colours that encapsulate the vibrant diversity of India.

As a part of its campaign Colours by Kohler: The India Palette, it announced its brand ambassador - Twinkle Khanna. The Quint caught up with Twinkle to speak about her interest in interior designing, how important it is to keep abreast of the latest trends, her new book and more:

Why did you decide to associate yourself with Kohler?

At Kohler, they have great respect for creativity and art, which is exactly what we are highlighting through their campaign – Colours by Kohler India Palette.

Most importantly, Kohler is leading in the trends of coloured bath spaces in India. For decades, white and chrome have been synonymous with bathrooms, but that doesn’t have to be the case anymore with Kohler coming into play.

What would you say about the innovation we did for Kohler on The Quint, wherein we went monochrome for a day & the only colours on the site were “Colours by Kohler”?

Innovation is what Kohler as a brand aims to bring about not only in its products but also through its marketing initiatives. I thought it was an effective campaign as it defined a physical representation of the idea that monochrome is a thing of the past and colours represent the liveliness of the present and hope for the future.

Is there a colour that dominates the interiors of your house or your wardrobe?

I do seem to have an affinity towards green, and I do it by filling my spaces with as many plants as I can cram in. Sartorially, since I can’t grow ferns on my fingers , I just throw in a lot of jade and emerald accessories.

How much of what’s happening internationally in the fashion, lifestyle and luxury markets do you keep yourself abreast with? And how do the global trends impact your choice when working on your interior projects? Also, if you can mention a current trend you are obsessed with.

It is extremely important to keep a close watch on local as well as international trends. Going to design fairs, looking at spaces while travelling, studying the integration of technology , all these aspects are something one has to be aware of and study constantly. Throwing in colours into the bath space as we are doing with Colours by Kohler: India Palette is a trend worth looking at. Right now, I am in love with everything to do with peacocks.

Are you planning a new book? If yes, could you tell us what it will be about?

I have a few ideas and some research ready, but I have a big project to work on till the end of September. Then I will be back, chained to my desk, working on the new book.

If there is one book that you would love to adapt to screen, which one would it be and why?

I read A Man called Ove and wrote to the publishers wanting to adapt it for a movie but unfortunately, Tom Hanks had already bought the rights and it will be out in 2019, so I will have to start looking for something else now.

Are you planning to produce any movie soon? Is there any story or script that has got you excited?

Right now, I am just thrilled that Mrs Funnybones Movies’ first production Pad Man won the National Award, so let me bask in that piece of sunlight for a few seconds before it’s back to the grind.
