Have Right to Express My Opinion: Swara After Padmaavat Criticism

While many people have been applauding Swara Bhasker for her searing letter to Sanjay Leela Bhansali for romanticising abolished practices like sati and jauhar, trolls on Twitter are criticising the Anaarkali of Aarah star.

Not one to take things lying down, Swara Bhasker has been:

On Tuesday, 30 January, Bhasker summed up her argument, saying that she, like anyone else was entitled to her right to express an opinion and “had no wrong intentions”.

Everybody has a right to express opinion. I kept my views in a very polite manner and had no wrong intentions. I put forward a few legitimate questions. I didn’t expect so much chaos just because I used a word which starts with ‘V’.

Singer, Suchitra Krishnamoorthi was offended when Swara felt like a “vagina after watching a story of a pious queen”.

Nobody could have given a better reply than the one given by Swara herself:

Troll: “Yes. Your reformist zeal is saluted. Practices like burqa, hijab, Shariat laws, triple talaq, polygamy, must be encouraged, because they ensure women's equality, ensure acceptance of women's personhood, empowerment, liberty and add to their overall happiness index. Amen.”

Troll: “Just read @ReallySwara review on #Padmavat... welcome to our league Swara... Welcome to new Cinematic world of Critics. And most importantly, I wish you loads of success... Your career as a a supporting actress wasn't that good, but I’m sure you will have a wonderful future as a critic”.

Troll: “Super saddened to read your views about #Padmaavat! And more surprised as you know the movie craft yourself! A difference of opinion is one thing but with your views you’ve belittled the entire women community!
