Sooraj Pancholi, whose film Satellite Shankar releases this November, has opened up about his father Aditya Pancholi’s relationship with Kangana Ranaut. In 2017, Kangana had accused Aditya of physical and sexual abuse when she was starting out in Bollywood. In an interview with SpotBoyE, Sooraj Pancholi maintains that their relationship was a “personal matter” between his parents and he prefers not to be involved. He said,

“No, that was their own issue. I don’t get into that. I have spent most of my time with my grandparents. I think that was a personal matter between my parents and they have sorted it out. And everyone goes through ups and downs. I’m not too happy about the things that have happened but it’s their life.”

Sooraj has been mired in controversy of his own and stands accused of abetting the suicide of actor Jiah Khan, who killed herself in 2013. Speaking to The Quint about the allegations, Sooraj said that he has been targeted only because he was her boyfriend at the time. “It was something that was not in my control because I was accused for something that I had not done and still nobody has anything against me, CBI or police. I mean evidence. They have no evidence against me and I had no role to play in this. I was only targeted as a boyfriend because I don’t know why over here something happens like that, a boyfriend is always, you know, blamed for it. And I was very young to even understand what was happening at that point,” he said.

Sooraj has also claimed that the trial is still going on because Jiah Khan’s family hasn’t been turning up in court. He told IANS, “If I am going to the court every time and the complainants are not turning up for the trial, that itself is a reply not only to the court but also to the people who are thinking that I am the bad guy.”
