Sonam Kapoor had on Wednesday responded to Abhay Deol’s Facebook posts on India’s obsession with fair skin and his criticism of Bollywood actors endorsing fairness creams by posting this on Twitter to Abhay.
Yes, Sonam actually thought it was a good idea to drag in an Esha Deol ad into the matter rather than respond to the issue of celebrities fuelling the desire for fairer skin.
While Abhay replied with a “Is wrong too”, Sonam’s response was slammed for using whataboutery instead of giving out a mature reaction appreciating Deol’s post and agreeing that pushing fairness creams was plain and simply not done. Sonam also deleted the tweet in which she had given her reason for having done the L’Oreal commercial which Abhay posted on his FB page.

While Abhay’s replies to Sonam continue to be available, the Neerja actor’s tweets are now unvavailable.
Let’s hope Sonam will come out and put her views on the matter in a much more mature way than she did, rather than choosing to go silent.
