Recently, Salman Khan took a dig at Priyanka Chopra. In an interview with an entertainment website, Salman bitterly mentioned, yet again, that Priyanka Chopra abandoned his film Bharat so she could get married to Nick Jonas. The clip circulating on the internet has received much criticism from netizens, including singer Sona Mohapatra.

Sona took to Twitter to extend support to Priyanka Chopra. Here’s what she wrote:

“Cus @priyankachopra has better things to do in life, real men to hang out with & more importantly, girls to inspire with her journey.”

Sona also tweeted about how Salman’s fans were bombarding her with memes on Priyanka and Nick’s age gap but conveniently forget that Salman is 20 years older than Priyanka.

The singer has said that she has been receiving regular threats from Salman fans for her comments. She took to Twitter to share one such message that read: “Once again if you tell anything bad about Salman Khan from b****y f*****g mouth, I will get into your house and kill you. It’s the 1st and final warning you s**t.”

In the particular interview with Bollywood Hungama, Katrina Kaif was speaking about her role in Bharat.“ When he (Ali Abbas Zafar) wrote this character originally, I was not there,” she said. Salman then quickly interrupted her to say that it was originally Priyanka Chopra who was supposed to star in the film. This is when Katrina interrupted him and tried to make amends.

Later, Salman Khan made a personal comment about the Quantico actor:

“Priyanka Chopra chose USA over Bharat at the nick of time. She has worked hard all her life, okay? And when she got the biggest film of her life, she dumped that to get married. You know, HATS OFF! Usually, people leave their husbands for films like these.”

During the interview, Salman also said that Priyanka could at least come and help him with promotions of Bharat. “I agree that she is not there in the film, but surely she can come and help with the promotions. She had actually loved the script,” he said.

Bharat is a remake of award-winning South Korean film Ode to My Father, which is one of the country’s highest-grossing films. The film spans about 50 years and traces the history of India through Salman Khan's character. The actor dons various avatars through the film, including that of a stuntman, miner and naval officer, and Katrina Kaif and Disha Patani play his love interests.

Bharat is directed by Ali Abbas Zafar. The film also stars Tabu, Jackie Shroff, Disha Patani and Sunil Grover. It releases in theatres on 5 June.
