Singer Mika Singh, who was arrested after a 17-year-old Brazilian model allegedly lodged a complaint about Mika sending inappropriate pictures, was released following the intervention of the Indian Embassy.
Mika was released on Thursday night following the intervention of the Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi, Navdeep Singh Suri, the Indian Ambassador to the UAE, told Gulf News.
Suri said Mika is expected to appear in a court later, reports gulfnews.com.
The envoy said although Mika was arrested in Dubai, the police took him to Abu Dhabi as the complainant was holding an Abu Dhabi residence visa.
Mika Singh was detained in United Arab Emirates (UAE) after a girl complained against him for alleged harassment.
Singh, who was here to perform at a party, was arrested in UAE after the model lodged a complaint that the singer has sent her inappropriate pictures, Gulf News reported quoting sources.
He also promised her a job in a Bollywood movie, it said. He was reportedly arrested in the middle of last night at 3 am.
Singh had sought consular access and the embassy staff was working on his case, Indian Ambassador to the UAE Navdeep Singh Suri was quoted as saying in the report.
This is not the first time that the singer has been facing charges of inappropriate behaviour.
He has been accused of forcibly kissing Rakhi Sawant.
Meanwhile, official sources in New Delhi said that Singh was detained at 3 AM and legal proceedings were being initiated against him.
Mika was in Dubai to perform at the Masala Awards. He shared a video on his Instagram profile 2 days ago talking about being in the city.
