Shah Rukh Khan’s film Zero, which released at the end of 2018, had been selected as the closing film of the Beijing International Film Festival 2019, which ran till 20 April. In an interview with a Chinese news channel, the actor opened up about the film’s failure at the box office in India.
“Unfortunately, Zero itself wasn’t received too well back home in India. Maybe I made the wrong film, maybe I did not do the right storytelling so I am a little wary how it will be received here and I hope people here will like it,” he said.
In another interview, the actor took back his words to announce his next film in June.
“I have no film with me right now. I am not working on any film. Usually what happens is when your one film is coming to an end, you begin work on your next film and I get involved within 3-4 months. But this time my heart is not allowing me to do so. I feel I should take some time out to watch films, listen to stories and read books,” Shah Rukh Khan said.
“ I’ve heard 15-20 stories, I liked 2-3 of them. But I haven’t decided yet which film to do. Because the moment I take a decision, I will have to start working on films. I will completely be engrossed in it”, the actor added.
Speaking about the failure of Zero, SRK had said,
Zero, is a love story about Bauaa, a dwarf who gets caught in a love triangle between a scientist and a superstar. The Anand L Rai directorial co-stars Anushka Sharma and Katrina Kaif. Despite its star cast and big budget, Zero failed to make a dent at the Indian box office and only earned Rs 88.74 crores.
When asked about his next project, SRK said, “I haven't decided what I will do next. I thought I will take a few months off and try and work on what I want to do because it's very important for me to be most excited about it. I have worked for 30 years, I work 16 hours a day, so if it doesn't excite you in the morning, you should not wake up.”
“At my stage, when I have worked in over 80 films, have done some satisfactory roles and have made a career out of what I do, I should be like I don't want to get up and go if it's not going to be an absolutely, stunning, scintillating and exciting day as an actor. So, right now I don't have anything that's stunning, scintillating and exciting, If I will have it, I will start working on it,” he added.
