Rishi Kapoor and his family have been very secretive about the actor’s year-long battle with cancer. Last year, Rishi Kapoor had taken to social media to announce that he would be going to the US for some medical treatment. “Hello all! I am taking a short leave of absence from work to go to America for some medical treatment. I urge my well-wishers not to worry or unnecessarily speculate. It’s been 45 years “plus” of wear and tear at the movies. With your love and good wishes,I will be back soon!”, he had written.
Now, with Rishi Kapoor’s close friend Rahul Rawail saying that he is almost cancer-free, Rishi has finally opened up about his long battle.
“My eighth month of treatment started on 1 May in the US. However, by the grace of God, I am cancer-free now”, Rishi Kapoor told Deccan Chronicle.
He also spoke about how his wife Neetu and kids Ranbir and Riddhima were a constant source of support. “Neetu stood by me like a rock. Otherwise, as far as food and drinks are concerned, I am a very difficult person to handle”, Rishi said.
Rishi also added that his illness has brought him close to Ranbir like never before. “My kids Ranbir and Riddhima have really shouldered my problems”, the actor said.
Known to be a very impatient person who does not tolerate delays, Rishi Kapoor says that this was God’s way of teaching him patience. “I am grateful for the gift of life”, Rishi told Deccan Chronicle.
Rishi Kapoor was last seen in the web-feature film Rajma Chawal where he shared a troubled relationship with his on screen-son.
