After the news of Indian Air Force (IAF) jets hitting the biggest training camp of the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) group in Pakistan early on Tuesday, 26 February, reached the masses, strong reactions have been pouring in on social media.
Foreign Secretary Vijay K Gokhale, in a press briefing later on Tuesday, told the media that the "non-military pre-emptive action was specifically targeted at the terrorist camp" which he said was located on a hilltop far away from civilian areas. The camp, he said, was located at Balakot, about 195 km from Islamabad and over 40 km from Muzaffarabad, in the province Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The aim, he said, was to ensure that there were no civilian casualties, while at the same time, eliminating a very large number of terrorists and their trainers. Like many others, B-town celebs lauded the Indian government and showed their support, for this move. From Akshay Kumar to Ajay Devgan to Abhishek Bachchan and Sonakshi Sinha - all tweeted out praises for the Indian Air Force.
In an interview with an entertainment website, Manikarnika actor Kangana Ranaut lauded the efforts of the Indian Air Force and also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi for launching the ‘second’ surgical strike, India Today reported.
