As Priyanka Chopra and Nick Jonas kicked off their pre-nuptial ceremonies ahead of their wedding on 2 December, fashion magazine Vogue revealed that the actor will be the cover star of their January issue. The publication shared glimpses of their photoshoot with Priyanka in a stunning gold dress and posted a teaser of their cover story which gives us insight into how the whirlwind PC-Nick romance unfolded.
PC is also the first Indian woman to feature on the cover of Vogue US.
In the interview, Priyanka confirms that it was Nick who made the first move. Nick adds that the moment he saw PC, he was awestruck and texted her Quantico co-star Graham Rogers saying, “Priyanka. Is. Wow.” He then sent Priyanka a direct message on Twitter that read: “I’m hearing from a few mutual friends that we should meet,” and asked her out on a date on 8 September, 2016.
The two kept up a text exchange but didn’t see each other for a year and a half until they were reunited at the MET Gala in New York in 2017. Priyanka confesses that she knew she was falling in love with Nick while on a date with him in Los Angeles.
This caught her attention because according to Priyanka, “As a girl, I’ve never had a guy tell me, ‘I like your ambition’. It’s always been the opposite.”
Nick finally proposed while he and Priyanka were vacationing in Crete, an island off the coast of mainland Greece. He chose to do it a few minutes after Priyanka’s birthday because he didn’t want their engagement date to clash. A few weeks earlier, he and his brothers had shut down Tiffany & Co in London to pick out the perfect ring.
Priyanka also admits that Nick caused her to break her own rules when it came to dating. Until she met him, she had never allowed herself to be photographed with any beau. “I’ve had that rule my whole life. Never publicly acknowledge a relationship ever.” The smitten actor says, “What is happening? I’ve not known myself like this. This guy turned me into such a girl! If I could blush, I’d be tomato red right now!”
