Debutante actor Sharmin Segal, who is gearing up for the release of her film Malaal, had a blast shaking a leg with Priyanka Chopra. A recent video shows Priyanka asking Sharmin to teach her the steps of Udhal Ho, a song from the film. PeeCee sees a video of the song, and exclaims “this is mini me!”. We are instantly reminded of Priyanka Chopra as Kashibai from Bajirao Mastani. In the film, she wears sarees in a traditional Marathi style, and even shakes a leg with Deepika Padukone in Pinga.

Sharing her excitement, Sharmin told IANS: “Dancing with Priyanka was surreal. She can learn the steps for her performances overnight. I remember her rehearsing for Pinga. She had shot throughout the night, rehearsed in the morning, went home and shot the entire night again.”

“When I started shooting for Udhal Ho, Priyanka’s energy motivated me to shoot the entire night and rehearse during the day. She has been such an inspiration in my life for things to do or not to do on sets", she added.

Sharmin Segal had worked as an assistant director on Mary Kom and Bajirao Mastaani, both films starring Priyanka Chopra. Sharmin also said that given a chance she would love to play Kashibai on screen.

“One of the main reasons is that Sanjay Leela Bhansali sir has directed it. Secondly, Kashibai's love is a different kind of love. It's the kind of love you sacrifice and on some level, it's a really nice character to play. It's selfless love where another person's happiness matters more than your own”, Sharmin said.

"Kashi's character had many complex layers. Priyanka did a great job with it and I don't think I will ever be able to match up to that but I am hopeful that in the future, I will get a chance to play characters like them,” the actor added.

Directed by Mangesh Hadawale, produced by Bhansali, Malaal is releasing on 5 July.
