Recently, Kalank actor Alia Bhatt got candid about how she prepared for her character in the film. According to reports, Alia Bhatt’s character ‘Roop’ required Alia to adopt a more graceful body language and polish her Urdu for which she watched a lot of old films. One particular Pakistani show, recommended to her by director Abhishek Verman, called Zindagi Gulzar Hai was a great source of inspiration for Alia Bhatt’s character.

Now, the Zindagi Gulzar Hai actor Sanam Saeed has responded to Alia’s praise for Sanam’s character in the show (which also stars Fawad Khan). She took to Twitter to express herself.

“Alia Bhatt, if this isn't made up news, I'm tickled pink . Best wishes. Xx”, she wrote on Twitter.

Other films that inspired Alia Bhatt include Mughal-E-Azam and Umrao Jaan.

I watched a lot of old films like Mughal-E-Azam and Umrao Jaan to get an understanding of grace and body language. (And) I had to clean my Hindi as I am speaking Urdu (in the film). Abhishek asked me to watch Zindagi Gulzar Hai. The character of the girl in the show is very much how Roop will deal with the situation. She has responsibility on her shoulders so she is not always a happy person. She is vulnerable yet strong. It is difficult (to bring so many) layers - unhappy, vulnerable and strong to a character.

An upcoming period drama film, Kalank boasts of a star cast that includes Varun Dhawan, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Sonakshi Sinha, Sanjay Dutt, and Aditya Roy Kapur. ‘Tabaah Ho Gaye’, a song that features Madhuri Dixit’s evergreen dance moves, was recently released by the makers of the film. Kalank will release on 17 April, 2019.
