Though Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan made his debut in Bollywood with Karwaan last year, it’s his new film The Zoya Factor with Sonam Kapoor - that’s really brought him under the spotlight up North.

So here are 5 absolutely entertaining films featuring the young actor that you could catch up on before you head out to see more of him this weekend:

1. Usthad Hotel

Dulquer Salmaan plays Faizal or Faizi, who returns after training to be a chef from Switzerland and wants to take up a job in the UK, much against his dad’s wishes. When his father takes away his passport, Faizi is forced to work as a cook in a very basic restaurant run by his grandfather. The stint at his grandfather’s ‘Usthad Hotel’ makes a new man out of Faizi who gets an insight into making better food and relationships.

2. Neelakasham Pachakadal Chuvanna Bhoomi

A rebel with a cause and without a pause, Dulquer as Kasi sets out on a road trip on his bike from Kerala and ends up in Nagaland and wins the love of his life back. Between fighting bandits, bonding with strangers and getting life lessons Dulquer charms and engages his audience in this unusual road film which was shot across Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, West Bengal, Nagaland and Sikkim.

3. Bangalore Days

In this multi-starrer with actors like Fahaad Faasil and Nivin Pauly, apna Dulquer Salmaan as makes his presence felt as the rebellious one among three cousins who move away from their small town in Kerala to live in Bangalore. In this heartwarming film about love, family and relationships Dulquer as Aju, who is a dirt bike racer, not only wins the race in the end but also manages to stop his girl Sarah from leaving him for Australia.

4. OK Kanmani

Dulquer as Aditya and Nithya as Taara feature in this romantic drama that juxtaposes a young live-in couple with an older married one to create a narrative around modernity versus tradition and the notions of what the idea of commitment means in a relationship. Interspersed with catchy songs and delightful visuals, OK Kanmani is an engaging watch.

5. Kammatipaadam

Set over 3 decades Kammatiipaadam has Dulquer in the role of Krishnan who returns to Ernakulam from Mumbai in search of his childhood friend. The story tracks the evolution of Krishnan’s life which is groomed in world of crime and violence and it also records the transforming landscape of Kochi from it’s lush greenery and paddy fields to a full fledged metro city filled with skyscrapers. Kammatipaadam presents Dulquer in a completely different avatar of a moustachioed gangster.
