Veteran actor Vijay Chavan known for films like Zapatlela, Jatra, Aga Bai Arrecha, Pachadlela and Mumbaicha Dabewala amongst others passed away at Fortis Hospital in Mumbai. A role that catapulted him to an iconic status came from theatre. He played Mavshi in the popular Marathi stage drama Moruchi Mavshi, written by Pralhad Keshav Atre. Chavan was lauded for his comic outings.
He reportedly expired after a prolonged battle with a lung disease.
He pocketed the prestigious accolade, V Shantaram Lifetime Achievement Award in 2018.
