Mahesh Bhatt is a man of words, and he has never been shy when it comes to passionately voicing his opinions. Recently, at the launch of his daughter, Shaheen Bhatt’s, book, ‘I’ve Never Been (Un)Happier’, Mahesh Bhatt lost his cool when a journalist asked him about “fitting in” into society. The filmmaker’s wife Soni Razdan and daughters, Pooja Bhatt, Alia Bhatt, and Shaheen were also present.
He spoke about how the society is “sick” and that even at his age he feels like a misfit, so he could never expect his young children to fit in. He spoke about not having had to pretend that he has the qualities everyone boasts about having, and how the world expects too much from everyone. Daughter Alia and wife Soni tried to calm him down as the setting got uncomfortable.
Shaheen’s mother actor Soni Razdan also spoke about her daughter’s illness and how initially she thought it was just “hormones”.
Shaheen’s book is a brave invitation into her life and her fight with depression.
