Kristen Stewart may have earned her fame from being part of one of the most popular movie franchises – The Twiight Saga – but the actor has been quite reticent when it comes to the limelight. The Breaking Dawn actor opened up to Harper’s Bazaar about her deliberate efforts to keep her relationships and personal life under wraps. Stewart dated her Twilight co-star Robert Pattinson for over three years, but the couple avoided acknowledging their relationship in public at the time. “When me and Rob [Pattinson] were together, we did not have an example to go by. So much was taken from us that, in trying to control one aspect, we were just like, "No, we will never talk about it. Never. Because it's ours,’” she said.
Stewart, who chooses not to label her sexuality and has dated Annie Clarke, aka St Vincent, and New Zealand model Stella Maxwell, says that she has been told to hide her relationships with women for the sake of her career. She told the publication,
“I was informed by an old school mentality, which is you want to preserve your career and your success and your productivity, and there are people in the world who don't like you, and they don't like that you date girls, and they don't like that you don't identify as a quote unquote ‘lesbian’ but you also don't identify as a quote unquote ‘heterosexual’. And people like to know stuff, so what the f**k are you?” she added.
