A special screening of the film Chalo Jeete Hain directed by Mangesh Hadawale was held in Mumbai on Saturday night. The 32-minute short film is inspired by the early life of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and is presented by Mahaveer Jain and Aanand L Rai. Chalo Jeete Hain was first screened at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Tuesday for the President of India. The screening in Mumbai saw BJP president Amit Shah in attendance with Mukesh Ambani, Sachin Tendulkar, Kangana Ranaut and Akshay Kumar among others.
Actor Kangana Ranaut, known to be blunt and forthright with her opinions, was seen heaping praises on Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the event. Ranaut called him the “rightful leader of a democracy”.
Apart from Kangana, Mukesh Ambani spoke about how inspired he was after watching the film. Akshay Kumar was also all praises about the film. So were Prasoon Joshi, Shiamak Davar and Aanand L Rai among other celebrities who attended the big screening.
Clearly, with less than a year for the next Lok Sabha elections, the movie, which depicts Modi’s childhood has drawn much attention.
Director Mangesh Hadawale said the movie revolves around a boy ‘Naru’, who is inspired by Swami Vivekananda’s words: “Wahi jeete hain, jo doosro ke liye jeete hain. (Only those live who live for others).” On his website, Hadawale is quoted as saying that he had found a cinematic appeal in the “incidents from Naru’s childhood”. He, however, doesn’t mention the PM directly.
However, some viewers said that the protagonist of the movie has several things in common with the PM. He is seen selling tea at a railway station and is influenced by Swami Vivekananda’s teachings.
