Justin Bieber took to Instagram to post a tell-all essay about his struggles with depression, attaining fame at a very young age and how that fame led him to make “every bad decision you could have thought of” by the age of 20. He started his note saying how difficult it is to get out of bed on a positive note when you are “overwhelmed with your life, your past, job, responsibilities, emotions, your family, finances and your relationships.”
He then started speaking about how child stars have to face insane pressure and responsibility. “I have a lot of money, clothes, cars, accolades, achievements and awards and I was still unfulfilled.”
“There is an insane pressure and responsibility put on a child whose brain, emotions, frontal lobes (decision-making) aren’t developed yet. No rationality, defiant, rebellious, things all of us have to go through”, Justin added.
The singer-songwriter said that he came from a broken home, and his parents were still young when they separated. “I started doing pretty heavy drugs at 19 and abused all of my relationships. I became resentful, disrespectful to women, and angry. I became distant to everyone who loved me, and I was hiding behind a shell of a person that I had become. I felt like I could never turn it around. It’s taken me years to bounce back from all of these terrible decisions, fix broken relationships, and change relationship habits.”
Bieber, however, credited his marriage to Hailey Baldwin as helping him shift to a more healthy lifestyle. His post served as his way to tell his fans that he has made mistakes but has grown since. “All this to say even when the odds are against you keep fighting,” he finished his post.
A few days back, Miley Cyrus too posted a message about how she had abused drugs.
