The Entertainment Journalists’ Guild of India (EJGI) on Tuesday 9 July has written an open letter addressed to producer Ekta Kapoor, asking her to condemn an incident on Monday where actor Kangana Ranaut lashed out at a journalist at a promotional event for their film Judgmentall Hai Kya. The letter also states that the guild has decided to boycott Kangana.
At the launch of a song from Judgementall Hai Kya which is produced by Ekta, Kangana got into a heated argument with PTI journalist Justin Rao, accusing him of bashing her previous film Manikarnika.
“After the song launch, in a media interaction Ms. Kangana Ranaut, who had accompanied you and Mr. Rajkummar Rao on stage, suddenly snapped at our fellow journalist, Mr Justin Rao of Press Trust of India (PTI), before he could even complete his question. This behaviour was uncalled-for,” the letter begins.
“You have always been supportive to righteous causes and we expect you to stand by us in this matter,” the letter adds before sharing the guild’s decision to boycott Kangana and not give her any press coverage.
Earlier in the day, Kangana’s sister tweeted that the actor won’t apologize for the incident. It makes sense then that the guild has not demanded one.
