Janhvi Kapoor, daughter of the late actor Sridevi and producer Boney Kapoor, has weighed in on the nepotism debate raging in Bollywood lately. While she is eager to accept her privilege in the industry, she also admits she would never miss an opportunity like Dhadak, her upcoming debut.
According to Indian Express, the 21 year-old actress told a group of journalists:
Having said that, Janhvi isn’t willing to give up a project even if it means someone more deserving loses out. “I am sure there are people much better looking and more talented than me but the point is why should I sacrifice this opportunity that's been given to me just because there might be other people. I have got this and now what I make of it is most important.”
Janhvi is also quick to clarify that her job isn’t an easy one.
She also shared the concerns that her mother had when Janhvi told her she wanted to be an actor. “I have done 400 films and this is your first but they will compare you to my 400th film,” Sridevi is said to have warned her.
Dhadak, which is a remake of the acclaimed Marathi hit Sairat by Nagraj Manjule, also stars Ishaan Khatter, another star kid. The Dharma and Zee Studios production is directed by Shashank Khaitan and releases on 20 July.
