After Irrfan Khan announced that he has been diagnosed with a rare neuroendocrine tumour, the actor’s well-wishers have been eagerly awaiting for more news about his health. The Piku actor has taken a break from work to undergo treatment abroad since March.
In an interview with Bombay Times from London, Irrfan speaks about his current state of mind after he signed up for a trial-and-error study to cure his tumour. His pictures have also surfaced on a blog.
Irrfan spoke about how he was in a “different game” of life, where he chased his dreams and aspirations, when news of his rare cancer came to light. While still reeling from the knowledge of the fatal illness, Irrfan is beginning to accept its unpredictability and the subsequent pain.
Irrfan honestly spoke about his efforts to not allow the cancer to consume him through “fear and panic”. He told his son, “I desperately need my feet” in the face of the terminal illness. But life had more lessons to teach Irrfan. Even though his hospital was located on the opposite side of Lord’s stadium, the “pain and exhaustion” did not allow his mind to visit, or even register the “Mecca of his childhood dreams”.
Finally, Irrfan admits, he has surrendered to the uncertainty of his life and “where this takes me, eight months from now, or four months from now, or two years”.
The actor, who will star with Dulquer Salmaan in Karwaan, thanked his well-wishers for their thoughts and prayers from across the globe.
