The comment by Filmfare editor Jitesh Pillai on Hina Khan’s appearance at Cannes created a massive furore on social media. Pillai put up a picture of Hina at the festival and said “Cannes has suddenly become Chandivali studios kya?”

In a recent interview with Anupama Chopra on Hotstar, Hina reacted to the controversy that erupted here. She said,

Coming from somebody sitting at such a huge position, it was disheartening. I did feel bad, I won’t deny. I did feel that it was not necessary.

Hina added, “I felt bad not just for myself because I have put in so much work, but for the person who made the comment as well, you are what you are it’s really not needed.You really work hard to reach where you want to reach. You got to do something in life to be here,”

But inspite of this she was overwhelmed by the support that came from the television fraternity, and from people like director Farah Khan and journalist Rajeev Masand.

When Pillai’s comment had come out, Hina had responded with a tweet saying,

After the massive trolling on social media Pillai had also responded with an apology.

Hina Khan also responded to Jitesh’s apology by thanking him for acknowledging the issue.
