This year, the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) had a special segment dedicated to Karan Johar, who completed 20 years in the industry. To mark the occasion, the filmmaker had a special screening of his debut film, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, which released in 1998. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, Rani Mukerji and Kajol in lead roles, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai became a blockbuster then. Speculations were rife about a reboot also.
Though Karan Johar does not have any plans to remake the film, he does have a dream cast in mind. Can you guess who? Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt and Janhvi Kapoor!
Johar told mid-day, “I would love to cast Ranveer Singh as Rahul. He is as energetic as Shah Rukh Khan. Alia Bhatt has the spunk of Kajol, so she will be perfect as Anjali. Someone has to be more restrained to play Tina (Rani Mukerji), and Janhvi checks all the boxes.”
At the event, Karan Johar also said that he did not have a script of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai when he went to Shah Rukh. “I only had a scene in mind and I lied to him that if he likes it I will narrate the film”, Karan added.
Ranveer, Alia and Janhvi will star in Karan Johar’s upcoming film Takht.
