Every year, during the time of Diwali, increasing pollution levels become a cause of concern across the country. This year, however, the situation seems to have gotten better as Mumbai celebrated its quietest Diwali in 15 years. And Amitabh Bachchan seems to agree.
On 30 October, the Badla actor took to Twitter to share his observations. He tweeted in Hindi about the decrease in firecrackers around his residence.
The actor wrote,“In my colony, on the day of Diwali and the day after it, you can hear the sound of firecrackers bursting but this time, I only heard 4 the sound of 4 firecrackers bursting. Today, I heard only two. This was impossible, but now it’s possible. People are king. You should not argue with the public.”
According to an NGO fighting against noise pollution, Sunday's Diwali celebrations in Mumbai generated a decibel level of 112.3, recorded just after the 10 pm deadline for bursting of firecrackers, down from 117.8 dB posted at the same time in 2017.
On Sunday, to celebrate the festival of lights, Amitabh Bachchan hosted a grand Diwali party at his residence in Juhu, Mumbai. The guest list was long. From Shah Rukh Khan to Anil Kapoor to the Ambanis, everyone was spotted arriving at Jalsa on Sunday evening.
Anil Kapoor had also hosted a small Diwali celebration before heading over to the Bachchan’s party himself. The celebs were completely decked out and dazzling in their ethnic outfits.
Actor Karisma Kapoor hosted her annual Diwali party at her home and invited family and close friends for the celebrations. Sister Kareena Kapoor arrived in a black and green dotted lehenga, while Saif wore a blue kurta and bandhgala. Malaika Arora was also spotted in a gorgeous pleated black lehenga and stunning neckpiece. Malaika’s sister Amrita Arora, Soha Ali Khan and Kunal Khemmu were also seen at Karishma’s home.
