Ace hockey player Sandeep Singh was shot on a train twelve years ago, which left the hockey player paralysed for two years. But he fought back and went on to win several medals for the country. Soorma, starring Diljit Dosanjh as Sandeep Singh, tells the story of this nearly impossible feat. The Shaad Ali film also stars Taapsee Pannu and Angad Bedi. Bedi plays the role of Bikram Singh, Sandeep’s brother who supported him through the very difficult journey.

While talking to Diljit we realised how shocking it was for him to discover that hockey is in fact, not our national game. He even spoke about the intense training he had to go through to get his hockey skills right. Sandeep Singh learned hockey for love, so when we asked him what Diljit can do for love, he had only one person in mind. Watch the video to find out more.

It is a lesser known fact that, Sandeep Singh has been hailed as one of the world' most dangerous drag-flickers of all time with drag speeds of over 145 km/hr which led to his nickname, ‘Flicker Singh’. Sandeep Singh's inspiring story prompted the makers to translate his life on silver screen. The film has been shot in his hometown, Shahabad to capture the real essence of his struggle and his journey to becoming the hockey legend that he is.

The trailer of the film had garnered immense appreciation from the audience. It is an inspiring true story of the human spirit, about a player, who made headlines for his miraculous comeback after an unfortunate accident. Produced by Sony Pictures Networks Productions, Chitrangda Singh, and Deepak Singh, Soorma is written & directed by Shaad Ali and is slated to release on 13 July, 2018.
