While everybody has been going gaga over Deepika and Aishwarya’s Cannes appearances, here are few more Bollywood biggies who are making news for all the right reasons at the 70th edition of the Cannes film festival. While there might be no Indian films in the official selection, other than FTII student Payal Kapadia’s short titled Afternoon Clouds in the Cinefondation section, Bollywood’s representatives are not to be ignored.
Tamil film Sanghamitra’s first look was launched at the 70th Cannes Film Festival on May 18. Leading members of the cast and crew namely Arya, Jayam Ravi, Shruti Haasan, Sabu Cyril and Oscar winning master composer AR Rahman, were all in attendance to cheer for their production. This is reportedly the first time that a Tamil film has been unveiled at Cannes.
Nandita Das, who was a part of the Cannes jury in 2005, is back at the 70th edition of the festival, and this time she brings her film Manto, starring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Rasika Dugal. The star cast will be joining the filmmaker at the festival on May 22 and the team plans to unveil some of the film’s footage.
According to reports, we are likely to see Tiger Shroff at Cannes too. The actor will apparently unveil his Rambo look from Siddharth Anand’s Bollywood remake of the Sylvester Stallone cult classic.
