Kalki Koechlin recently announced she’s expecting her first child with her partner Guy Hershberg. The Sacred Games actor told Hindustan Times that her notions of motherhood began to change after the break up of her marriage with Anurag Kashyap in 2015, and she is now embracing it after rejecting the pressure to have a child in her 20s. Kalki has also spoken about how her former husband reacted to the news. She told Mumbai Mirror,
The couple met two years ago when Kalki was holidaying in Israel with friends. Guy relocated to India this year, and the baby is due in January. Kalki has said that while they haven’t rejected the idea of marriage, they “just haven’t gotten around to it yet”. When asked about having a child despite being unmarried, Kalki is firm in her belief that the term “out of wedlock” is an outdated concept. “It belongs in a Shakespearean drama and not in a millennial world. Marriage can be useful for bureaucracy, but it is not a sign of love. Only time and consistency tell of a strong relationship,” she told the publication.
