The Isha Ambani-Anand Piramal wedding festivities witnessed B-Town’s enthusiastic fervour with the biggest celebs toiling to make it an occasion to remember. With the likes of Amitabh Bachchan, Aamir Khan, Shah Rukh Khan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan serving food to the guests to Salman Khan turning into a background dancer, celebs helped out eagerly in the ‘Shaadi Ka Ghar’.
Lata Mangeshkar showered her blessings by recording a rendition of the Gayatri Mantra, a Ganesh stuti and a special message for the newlyweds in her own voice.
Here’s the video that has surfaced online where Nita Ambani and Mukesh Ambani are seen overwhelmed and teary-eyed.
"It was the best I could do considering I wasn't well enough to attend the wedding. My best wishes are always with Isha (Mukesh and Nita Ambani's daughter) and her husband Anand. May they make their parents proud," the singer said.
She added, "It is being said it was the best wedding in Mumbai in many years. Mukeshji and Nita Bhabhi personally looked into every aspect of the arrangement making sure every guest was looked after. I believe the American musician performer Beyonce performed at the pre-wedding celebration. Yeh koi choti baat nahin hai (It's not a minor thing). I don't think anyone but Mukesh and Nita Ambani could manage this."
The recording was played during the wedding rituals of the couple on 12 December.
Before the recording was played, Amitabh Bachchan delivered a small speech explaining the significance of the rendition by Lataji to the guests.
Isha Ambani and Anand Piramal tied the knot in a private ceremony at the Ambani residence, Antilla, in Mumbai. Film and sports icons, business tycoons, political heavyweights, celebrities and a host of others attended what was described as ‘a royal wedding’ for the scions of the two top business conglomerates.
A low-key reception was held at Anand Piramal’s residence on 13 December. An open-air reception was hosted by the Ambanis on 14 December at Jio Garden in the BKC business district.
