Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has been in the news a lot lately. First, there was the controversy regarding his Canadian citizenship and then he was criticised for not casting his vote in the 2019 Lok Sabha Elections.

Actor Anupam Kher tweeted in support of Akshay saying that he didn’t owe anyone any explanations to prove his loyalty to India.

Akshay responded thanking Anupam for his support. He tweeted, “Dearest @AnupamPKher ji, duly, noted, also thank you for this and thank you for being more of a friend than a colleague. Hugs.”

The actor also expressed his gratitude in response to MP Kiren Rijiju’s tweet in which he had extended his support for Akshay saying “Dear @akshaykumar ji, no one can question your patriotism. Your motivation to our Armed Forces personnel and the way you generated funds for our martyrs through # BharatKeVeer programme will remain an example for every patriotic Indian.”

“Thank you so much @KirenRijiju Sir, and I apologise for the delayed response. I am grateful for your kind words. Please be assured, my commitment to #BharatKeVeer and to the Indian armed forces would remain steady, no matter what”, the actor wrote.

Akshay who has featured in films based on social causes like Toilet: Ek Prem Katha and Padman was being questioned by people for his patriotism. He had issued an statement on Twitter saying that he has never hidden or denied the fact that he holds a Canadian passport.

According to the reports, actor Akshay Kumar recently donated one crore towards the assistance of victims of Cyclone Fani in Odisha. He is currently shooting for Sooryavanshi, a part of Rohit Shetty’s cop universe that includes films such as Singham and Simmba.
