Carnatic music legend MS Subbulakshmi has been honoured with a stamp by the United Nations to mark her birth centenary which coincided with the celebrations of India’s 69th independence day.

India’s Ambassador to the UN, Syed Akbaruddin posted a sneak peak of what the stamp looks like.

India’s independence day was commemorated at the world body’s headquarters this year as AR Rahman enthralled UN diplomats and international dignitaries at a special concert in the UN General Assembly hall on 15 August.

Rahman became the second Indian artist after Subbulakshmi to perform at the iconic UN hall, which is the usual platform for global leaders to address the world.
