Call Me Mr Passionate, Not Mr Perfectionist: When Aamir Got Candid

The Quint caught up with the Dangal actor who was in New Delhi for the promotion of his upcoming film.

In a press conference on Thursday, Aamir Khan said he should be called ‘Mr Passionate’. That’s apparently the correct title for him instead of ‘Mr Perfectionist’. The actor was in New Delhi for a promotional event for his upcoming film Dangal.

During the conference, Aamir spoke of demonetisation and his preferred ways of promoting a film, among other things.

Aamir and Demonetisation

The first thing everyone was curious to know about was how demonetisation has affected his life. To this, he quickly responded with:

I don’t have monetary expectations. Demonetisation has not affected me, I mostly use credit card.

Promotion of a Film

On questions about his modus operandi when it comes to film promotion, Aamir said that he doesn’t see television as the right platform to promote his films.

I don’t believe in promoting my film through television. Trailer is the oldest and best way to market your film... I am not an innovative person , I simply plan my promotion according to my story.

Specifically in the context of Dangal, he said:

Biggest way to promote Phogat Sisters and Mahavir would have been by making a movie and that is what we have done.

Aamir said that even though he is not making an ad film on the Phogat family, but he is excited about them watching it.

He further added:

My primary responsibility is not to promote someone, but to make a good film.

The Physical Transformation for Dangal

The country is abuzz with the physical transformation Aamir underwent for the film. When The Quint asked him about it, especially at the age of 51, Aamir chuckled and said:

I had to maintain  a balance between losing weight and building muscles. With a balanced diet such a transformation is possible. My regime was based on calorie deficit. I was taking less calories compared to how much I was losing and that’s how I did it.

How ‘Haanikaarak’ Is This ‘Bapu’ for His Kids?

When we asked him how haanikaarak he is for his kids, the actor succinctly replied:

We are not harsh and strict parents, but then we don’t let them do anything they want.

On the ‘Dangal’ Girls

When I see these four girls I see the same amount of passion I had when I entered the industry. They were always pepped up and cheerful... Sakshi was a dream to work with, she is so talented. She is a one-take actor... If female version of <i>Dil Chahta Hai</i> is made I would say out of the three, two should be Sanya and Fatima.
