Bollywood A-lister Varun Dhawan has confirmed that he will be a part of the remake of the 1995 Govinda-starrer Coolie No 1.
Dhawan also confirmed to BBC that the remake would be directed by his father, veteran Director David Dhawan, who had directed the original film which also starred Karishma Kapoor alongside Govinda.
He also confirmed to the news channel that Alia Bhatt, who was rumoured to star opposite him in the remake, would not be his co-star. “I can’t do every film with Alia Bhatt...That you will know soon, I don’t want to say it now but Alia and me are not working. We’ll do something..after...we’ll give a little break to people because I think for everyone it is like ‘oh, they are back again’.”
Varun also said that other actors felt like Alia and him were “building friends” who were inseparable and would only come downstairs to play together, considering how often they have been paired together.
The October actor, however, did not disclose the name of the actress who would be starred opposite him.
Varun and Alia made their debut in Bollywood with Student of the Year, followed by Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania. They are also working together in their newest film Kalank, which also stars Madhuri Dixit, Sonakshi Sinha, Aditya Roy Kapoor, Varun Dhawan and Sanjay Dutt.
