As the year gears up to its end in a few weeks, Google India announced the 2017 Year in Search Results - basically recapping the top searches and trends that were Googled in India. Google Search Results offer an immense insight as to what millions of people, spread over a region, are searching for. Of course, in India, cricket and Bollywood take the cake. These two remained on top of the charts in 2017, with films like Baahubali 2: The Conclusion and the IPL, rounding up the interests of young Indians. The keywords that made it to the top-ten search query list in 2017 were Dangal, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, and Live Cricket Score.
Bollywood songs weren’t left too far behind. Among the top trending songs this year, Hawa Hawa from the Arjun Kapoor-starrer Mubarakan was on top of the charts. That was followed by Sufi track Mere Rashke Qamar (originally sung by legendary Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and recreated by vocalist Rahat Fateh Ali Khan) from the film Baadshaho. The prevalent interest in Western music was well noticed with the Latin hit Despacito, and Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You featuring among the top trending tracks.
Talk about celebs, Sunny Leone (once again) featured among the top entertainers this year. Next was Bigg Boss entrant Arshi Khan, and YouTube singing sensation Vidya Vox. Names like Disha Patani, Sunil Grover, and Rana Daggubati also made the list.
